On March 14, 2023, EPA announced the proposed National Primary Drinking Water Regulation (NPDWR) to establish legally enforceable levels, called Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCLs), for six PFAS in drinking water. PFOA and PFOS as individual contaminants, and PFHxS, PFNA, PFBS, and HFPO-DA (commonly referred to as GenX Chemicals) as a PFAS mixture. On March 15, 2023, DEC released final ambient water quality guidance values for PFOA, PFOS, and 1,4-Dioxane.

Town of Campbell Road Closing Process

The expansion project described in the final scoping document requires the closure of Manning Ridge Road or another road. A road closure requires the approval of the Town of Campbell. We understand that no applications for road closures have yet been received by the Town.

Leachate Issues

The annual reports show that Hakes sends its leachate to the Steuben County Landfill Leachate Pre-Treatement Plant. The Pre-Treatment Plant is an industrial user of the Village of Bath Wastewater Treatment Plant. The Bath WWTP discharges into the Cohocton River.
